About John Glenn

Retired Colonel John Glenn, a combat proven Marine Corps aviator in WWII and the Korean War, a test pilot, and the first American astronaut to orbit the earth, is the name-sake for our Squadron which is located at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, the home of the Navy's Test Pilot School, the headquarters of the Naval Air Systems Command, and the heart of naval aviation acquisition activities.
His legacy of contributions to aviation and space exploratation inspire Marine Corps aviators and supporters of Marine Corps aviation alike who strive to follow in his foot steps and attain the same lofty heights reached by Col Glenn.
