Scholarship Program
Our Squadron sponsors annual merit based scholarships to promote higher education in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and to improve community awareness of Marine Corps Aviation. Since 2007 we have awarded $140,000 in scholarships to 36 students. High school students from Southern Maryland Tri-County (St. Mary's, Calvert and Charles) area public, private, and home schools and the dependents of John Glenn Squadron members are eligible to apply. Applicants must pursue a STEM-based degree and sumbit an essay on how their career plan could support Marine Corps/Navy Aviation and the Department of Defense. Scholarship recipients are listed below.
APPLY FOR A SCHOLARSHIP - Applications are accepted through early March and must be sumbitted via the St. Mary's County Business, Education, and Community Alliance (SMCBECA). Click HERE to visit their website, then select "Passport to Scholarships" to view and download application instructions and forms.
